Naming

Use the standard format:

<SITE>-<ROLE><NUMBER>

Examples:

• HQ-DC01
• HQ-FS01
• HQ-MGMT01
• HQ-W11-001

Firmware

• Use UEFI for modern Windows systems.
• Use TPM 2.0 for Windows 11.
• Use VirtIO SCSI where possible.
• Install QEMU Guest Agent.

Disk layout

Initial lab disk sizes:

Domain Controller	80 GB
Management workstation	80 GB
Windows 11 client	80 GB
File Server	100 GB minimum

CPU and memory

Role	vCPU	RAM
Firewall	2	4 GB

Required post-install tasks

• Rename computer
• Set static IP where required
• Install updates
• Install QEMU Guest Agent
• Enable firewall
• Document VM in inventory
• Take baseline snapshot
